Founded at the University of Connecticut, O.R.B.I.T. is being built to help students understand research, develop real competency, find guidance, and participate in scholarship responsibly.

THE GAP

Students are told to “get involved in research.” Too few are shown how.

Research can feel inaccessible when its language, expectations, methods, and networks are never made explicit. O.R.B.I.T. aims to bridge that gap by making the path into research easier to understand without oversimplifying the work itself.

MISSION

Make research participation more accessible.

O.R.B.I.T. exists to make undergraduate research education, mentorship, opportunities, and scholarly participation more accessible to students regardless of their previous research experience or institutional background.

We create pathways that can take students from initial curiosity to formal research education, mentorship, collaborative research participation, scholarly presentation, and potential publication.

VISION

Access should not depend on prestige, connections, or resources.

We envision a future in which undergraduate research access is not determined by institutional prestige, personal connections, previous experience, or financial resources.

Where you attend college should not determine whether you have access to research.

Research takes many forms.

O.R.B.I.T. welcomes research-minded students across biology, medicine, health sciences, psychology, neuroscience, public health, social sciences, engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, technology, education, policy, economics, business, humanities, communication, and other research-oriented disciplines.
